The Island Hopper Transom Rudder Motor is a great design, unparalleled by any other kayak trolling motor design. This motor is designed to fit kayaks that accept rudders or have a preset location that can accept a rudder. It is equipped with a variable speed motor and a 55# thrust saltwater-color white tiller steering handle for kayaks that do have a spot that can accept a rudder. Additionally, the rudder steering is for kayaks that have an existing rudder or are rudder prepped to accept a rudder.

Additionally, it comes with an 8” telescoping steering handle aluminum anodized, a heavy gauge battery cable, a lithium-ion plug, a motor lifting cord kit, a slip pin for quick and easy removal and storage, and all the stainless steel hardware required for quick installation.

Understanding the difference between a Variable speed and a Conventional trolling motor.

Conventional Trolling Motors
​Are the most commonly used motor for boating and kayaking. They are cost-effective and are equipped with 5 forward / 2 reverse speeds. They are primarily designed to propel you quickly to your desired destination or fishing hole, and then reposition your boat or kayak when currents or wind blow you off course.
Understanding Conventional Speeds:
– 1st and 2nd speeds are designed for “short bursts” only, not to exceed 15-minute intervals at a time. “Not for trolling”, as it will damage these two speeds.
– 3rd speed is for covering larger areas, traveling and mostly getting around while conserving battery.
– 4th speed is for traveling longer distances faster.
– 5th speed is for when speed is required, such as a change in the weather, current, chop waters, or an emergency; getting to safety or shore quickly.

The kayak rudder motor transom mount is designed to fit all kayaks that are rudder-ready or have an existing rudder
Stainless bolts that attach directly to the transom.
Fasteners are stainless, designed for plastic kayaks, and are self-sealing requiring no sealant..
The motor is sealed against water intrusion. The corded cables are sealed. The remote controller housing is IP64.
The motor bracket is made of HDPH polypropylene material and carries a lifetime warranty. The motor includes a propeller.
The lift cord kit is included with the trolling motor kit, a clam shell cord restrainer and two stainless screws.
